A
native of the Pacific Northwest, I now live in San Jose,
California.
Following
a long progressive hearing loss I became deafened in January
1997. With a firm foundation of spiritual principals I let
go of life as I knew it and embraced a new life in silence.
My
photography captures the beauty I perceive in my silent
world that speaks volumes of my journey and the spirituality
that guides me.
Silent Inspirations began at a time in my life when my struggles
were particularly difficult. A friend sent me this quotation;
"When you come to the end of all the light you know, and
are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing one of two things will happen. You will
find something solid to stand on, or you will learn to fly".
At
the same time, while attending a spiritual retreat, I captured
those feelings in a photograph of Cape Alava on the Washington
coast on a cloudy but peaceful day. Looking at the photo
I realized it captured the essence of the quote, and the
first "Silent Inspiration"
was created.

Silent
Inspirations began by enhancing my photos with my own words
to bring hope, inspiration and peace to those who view them.
My work today reflects my ever widening visual perception
of life's journey through times of peace and times of unrest.
While the original 'Silent Inspiration' concept continues,
it has also evolved into collage work that brings together
many of my images to make statements that have no need of
words.
Silent
Inspirations are not mass produced. Each work is created
and printed individually using the highest quality photo
paper and archival ink to ensure lasting beauty for generations
to come.
Silent
Inspirations are created by using layers and filters to
carefully blend their inspirational words so that the text
does not detract from the natural beauty of the scene. The
words float within the picture drawing the viewer closer
to read the message that embellishes the feelings that the
picture creates. Hence "Silent Inspiration".
